We’ll enjoy dinner & drinks followed by an after-dinner talk and informal Q&A with Laurence Kemball-Cook, the founder of the fast-growing start-up company, Pavegen. Laurence is a highly influential individual and recognised as a leader within technology and entrepreneurship, having completed 5 TED talks and attended trade missions in China and Italy. He was invited to talk at SXSW 2016 on behalf of British and the US governments. Laurence has also participated in UN’s +20 Climate Conference, Innovate UK and DMZ 2.0 with Steven Wozniak in South Korea.

Pavegen is a clean-tech company that has pioneered a flooring technology, generating electricity from the kinetic energy of footsteps. The significant potential of Pavegen and CEO Laurence Kemball-Cook has been recognised with numerous awards and accolades, including two Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2015, and the Best Clean-Tech Startup Company at the Europas in 2016.

The company went into overfunding on Crowdcube in just 3 days of launching their campaign to raise £750,000. Within a week, they hit the £1m mark and closed out at 1.9m, 253% over their fundraising target.

Laurence is the founder and CEO of Pavegen, a clean-tech company that has pioneered a flooring technology, generating electricity from the kinetic energy of footsteps. Having graduated with a 1st class honours in Industrial Design and Technology from Loughborough University, Laurence launched the business and filed the first patents from his bedroom with £200, in 2009.

Since inception, Pavegen have taken the technology to production and delivered commercial projects for some of the biggest global brands, such as: Shell, Nike, Coca-Cola, Heathrow Airport, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Diageo, Lexus, London 2012 Olympics, and Europe’s largest shopping centre - Westfield to name a few.

Consequently, Laurence is a thought leader and speaker at various technology and entrepreneurship events worldwide; his TEDxBerlin talk was featured amongst TED’s top talks on envisioning the cities of the future and changing attitudes to fossil fuels. Additionally, Laurence was the youngest CEO of a delegation of leading British companies, joining the Prime Minister, David Cameron, on a state visit to China.
