What’s the elevator pitch for your startup?

We’re the only events network connecting attendees, speakers and event organisers. We’ve created a platform for the events community to connect and find events that are really worth attending. With intelligent algorithms Pickevent learns what events you’d like to go to and speakers you’d like to see and helps you to attend them. This is awesome for speakers and event organisers because they get to connect with their audience like never before and ultimately sell out their events. Pickevent connects you to events worth attending.

What were you doing before you launched your startup?

Jose Moliner and I both worked for big companies and were wanting to meet new people in a new city.

If you have co-founders, where did you meet them?

After meeting by chance they became friends in their search for events. We created Pickevent for a lot of reasons. Mostly because we were having trouble finding events worth attending, but after speaking to hundreds of event professionals we realised the problem was much bigger than that.

What’s your biggest ‘hindsight’ moment?

“I wish I had started creating Pickevent much earlier!”

What will 2014 bring?

Growth! We’re expanding the network and our team as I write.

1 piece of advice for someone starting a business in the events space?

There are a lot of event startups, but this is a huge industry.. If you have an idea that you think is unique/useful, don’t be put off by the crowded space, elbow your way in and prove it!
