Interesting fact

When acacia trees sense that their leaves are being eaten by giraffes, not only do they release tannins into their system to make their leaves taste bitter, but they also release a scent into the air that can be 'smelt' by nearby trees. These neighbouring acacia trees then also release tannins into their system ahead of being eaten. In short, trees can talk and smell!
