Dinner with Michael Kent, FinTech entrepreneur and investor – and Founder of Azimo

We had a tremendous time at last night’s FinTech dinner. We brought together a great group of entrepreneurs and startups for a delicious meal at The Green in Clerkenwell. The evening’s topic was based around finance and technology, both startups and established companies, and we enjoyed after-dinner talk and Q&A with Michael Kent.

Michael is a FinTech entrepreneur and investor. He’s the founder and CEO of Azimo, a London based global mobile and internet money transfer company. After beginning his career in the financial service practice at Accenture, Michael held senior positions M&A positions at WPP and News Corp before founding the Small World Financial Services Group. He grew the business from inception to be Europe’s largest independent money transfer company with over $4.5bn annual transactions. He went to Cambridge University and got an MBA from INSEAD.

Michael told his captivating story from the point of entering the startup world, to growing Azimo to where it is today, with the ups and downs in between – fielding plenty of questions from the floor. Michael was a knowledgeable and honest speaker and could certainly hold the crowd.

The quick-fire, round the table introductions, revealed that we were joined by Travelex, MyCheck, Founder Magazine, Telefonica, PixelPin, Diacle & Semetric amongst many other diners.

Thank you to everyone for being part of the evening. We also wanted to thank our partners for their ongoing support, Taylor Wessing and Blick Rothenberg.
