Startup Diaries, last episode in 2013

Probably the last update of the year, as the Christmas madness descends and we battle to get everything we set out to do in 2013 done! (No time for blogging).

We had a great Startup Engine dinner at Chico Bandito for people with exciting ideas brewing, who were just getting things going or had plans to do so. Founders’ Hive also hosted their first dinner for their growing community on the site. Sean Obedih from Founders’ Hive is hosting his second dinner on 6th December, the day before the Founders’ Hive demo day. Get in touch with us or Sean for details of either. We have exciting news about some new partners for our startup dinners, which will be kicking off in the New Year.

I made it along to the 2nd #vagtech dinner (it does what it says on the tin) organised by Chloe Nicholls from PublicBeta. A chance to meet other ladies in tech at the tech friendly Thirsty Bear – where you can ‘build your own burgers’. All ordering is done via a console from the table and bills can be paid individually. It gives people the flexibility to come and go as they please and also provided an interesting talking point.

Our Reuters on the Road interview went live on Reuters. We also had a nice interview on Lily and Parker. Also keep your eyes peeled for a short TableCrowd video we put together, starring some of our members – we’re pretty sure you’ll recognise a few faces. We’ll be releasing that soon.

1390703_605787919481904_745374685_nWe were invited to pitch at a sharing economy event arrange by Crowdcube and Compare And Share at Level 39 in Canary Wharf. Compare and Share have just gone into over-funding on Crowdcube with a tremendous concept that has set out to do for the sharing economy market what Ebay has done for the second hand market. We picked up the audience vote for “best pitch”. Not a bad evening’s work.

Nominated for the “Startup Of The Year” award by Tech City News, we attended the awards ceremony at private members’ club, Eight. The team at Tech City News did themselves proud and put on a tremendous event for 100+ people. Dinner and drinks with all the other startups on the London scene. Congrats to my pals at Fitness Freak and Dattch for their awards and thanks to all our members who took the time to vote for TableCrowd.

Looking forward to being part of the #CampusFeast. Campus is bringing together the most original food startups, to celebrate food innovation with a delicious feast of food and drink. I’m sure we’ll be seeing some familiar faces.
